Fear can be the most potent emotion if you allow it to control your life. It can stop you from reaching your goals just by putting a small piece of doubt in your mind saying, ‘you can’t do that,’ ‘why are you even trying,’ or ‘it is meant for someone else to be great, not you.’ Most of the time you don’t even realize that you are subconsciously telling yourself those things until you pay attention to what is going on in your mind. So, how do you go from stagnant to productive? You get out and be like Nike and “Just Do it”! Most people don’t realize how powerful these three simple words are. Those words have grown the Nike brand to be the most influential athletic company in the world. So, how can you be like that?
Follow these simple steps below and implement a Just Do It attitude into your life.
Just Do It Step #1 – Identify your fear
Identify your fear. Everyone has a fear of something! It could be something material, could be an action, could be a career and it could be several different things. First, you need to know what your fear is. Sit down and think what that is. For me, it wasn’t things, like wasn’t skydiving, animals, insects, or any of the traditional fears. It was the fear of success. There was something terrifying as it related to success. I didn’t feel as if I was worth enough as a person for people to look up to, a leader. There were leadership qualities in me but to be a leader that is different. That was one of my biggest fears, what is yours?
Just Do It Step #2 – Find Out Why
Sit down and get to the root of your struggles. Figure out how you have arrived at the place of complacency and fear. It helps to make a list that you can draw from and as you write you can think of ideas and able to get deeper and deeper into your thoughts. What you know about you can change.
Just Do it Step # 3- Action
Finally, put action into changing it. Just put one foot in front of the other. It sometimes means closing your eyes, move forward and putting in that work. Focus on one step at a time, and before you know it, you will have made so much progress that when you look back that you may even surprise yourself. Sometimes you must take life minute by minute to make it through. Some days you are stronger than others. Know that and keep pushing forward.
Bottom line is, do not let fears rule you, but rule your fears! Put in that hard work and be like Nike and “JUST DO IT.”
